Wayback Highway
“We'll Never Forget”
Tribute...
Join me for a "let the goodtimes roll" bus ride as we travel on back in time down along the Wayback Highway, briefly taking a left turn off Folklane exit and rolling on up the on ramp to something completely different.

The RICK Nelson Tribute SHOW
Out of the “Vault” from the Wayback Highway
"We'll Never Forget" Tour.
I was honored back in the ‘80s to be asked by the National Rick Nelson Fan Club (Best fan club in the world) to pay homage to him and his music in a respectful touring tribute show. At first I felt like a fish out of water, though after a while of performing his music and learning about him through friends and family, I became a huge admirer and fan. It was all so surreal when I got to work with Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Freddy “Boom-Boom” Cannon and others. The incredible Ricky Nelson Tribute band and I (using the given stage name David Jesse) had a blast playing all those legendary rockabilly songs. We also recorded an album of some of his biggest hits, respectfully titled “We'll Never Forget” which you can find and listen too below. So, yes, it was pretty great and it all seems like it was a lifetime ago. I had never thought to post a few of the photos as, at the time, and as much of an amazing, grateful experience it was, for awhile it steered me away from my life in the “folklane,” a detour from my own Singer/Songwriter Acoustic Music path was put on hold. Nonetheless, with a bit of prodding from loved ones reminding me that it was all part of the journey, I thought…what the heck. And so it goes and so it went. I was a “Travelin’ Man, made a lot of stops all over the world”. Now I go to…. Garden Party's and “reminisce with my old friends”.

Chasing My Dreams
As this was my first recording and my first time in a real recording studio, this record is hard for me to listen to. Looking back it seems almost like some kind of right of passage as I was just a young guy not really knowing what I was doing, how to write, or how to sing. Funny after all these years I'm still trying to figure it all out. Though I did learn I was not a Rock n Roll Songwriter nor a Rock Singer. All I knew is I had an insatiable appetite and an overwhelming love for music that would eventually lead me to the world of Acoustic Fingerstyle Folk where I feel most at home.
Yeah, this first Record, with two others that followed (now out of print) is definitely a bit rough and slightly pitchy, as we weren't able to download from the original, final studio master tape. This audio was all we were able to salvage from a wobbly, old crusty cassette tape. Nonetheless, it was an invaluable learning experience with many amazing memories that followed all those years ago; and, as "they" say,
“all part of the journey.”
I was blessed to have such a great band of good friends and players.
Most importantly,... we sure had a blast laying down these tracks that hot summer back in 1976. Enjoy! and please... Tread lightly.
